is a joint effort of the Government of the Republic of Yemen , UNDP-GEF and FFEM to conserve globally important biodiversity of the Socotra Archipelago. The SGBP comes after previous successful projects aimed on a sustainable human development on the island. The objective of the SGBP is to support Socotra in the national decentralization process and to set up a system of local administration that effectively includes biodiversity management.
Special thanks to international experts who have devoted their work and heart to Socotra and contributed soundly with their knowledge and valuable materials to this website: Richard Porter (Birdlife Int.), Kay Van Damme (The Ghent University), Lisa Benfield (The Edinburgh Botanic Garden), Catherine Cheung ( NICA Australia) and Richard Boggs (photographer).
